Gareth Pugh is an English fashion designer who was born in 1981. He also attended Saint Martins, and graduated in 2003, and later went on to develop a name for him self within the fashion industry. It is said that his final collections for his Saint Martins exhibition is what became his trade mark look, and gave him a name for him self as well as gaining the attention of the press and getting the front cover of magazines. This opened even more doors for him and gave him the opportunity to work on group shows such as London Alternative Fashion Week. His first ever big show was at London Fashion week in 2006, and since he has gone on to display work collections all over. Vogue calls his work incredible "His genius is undeniable." Gareth Pugh describes his work as being about a struggle between lightness and darkness. A lot of his work includes black and white patch work and experimentation with volume. Most of his work is recognised as perfomance art and very dark, almost gothic like.
